Some Big Toe Pedal Pads

Aside from actually playing, the Pedal Pads are one of the more fun parts of the Big Toe.  We’ve been working on lots of different form factors, all with the aim of giving you the lightest and most portable pedal board possible.  Our lightest weight option uses RFID stickers on thin removable vinyl cutouts that are placed on a 12” x 4” non-skid rubber pad.  Of course you can reposition the pads themselves anywhere you need on the stage floor, but the ‘pedals’ themselves peel off and can be moved around as well.

I like to use color and shape to denote function.  For example, for my overdrives I’ll use the classic rectangle shape, modulation effects might be squares, and I’ll use colors to match the color on the software or analog pedal, such red for a Fuzz Face or orange for a Phase 90.

I like to have a separate pad for effect categories like overdrives, modulation, ambience, amps, loop functions, etc, but of course the best part is I can take as many of these to a gig as I need or as the stage floor space will allow.

The circles with RFID tags in the middle look like donuts and are the perfect mate for triggering loops in LoopyPro.

Other formats we are working with are PVC RFID tags (think credit card) that are attached to a velcro-like pad.  This format is a bit heavier but gives you more of a blank canvas for you to customize your pedals.

As always, I'm interested in hearing how you'd like to use the Big Toe, so let me know what you think will work best for you.
